Coaching, Mentoring & Developing Others Overview

A half-day workshop that shifts leaders' focus from personal performance to growing people. Participants leave with three practical frameworks, real-world stories and hands-on practice in coaching, feedback and mentoring.

The highest-leverage use of a leader's time is growing other leaders. Yet most leaders were never taught how to coach, how to give feedback that changes behaviour, or how to think seriously about who they are developing for the future. This working session closes that gap.

What we cover

  • Module 1: The Coaching Conversation The GROW model (Goal, Reality, Options, Will), developed by Sir John Whitmore. Leave able to run a real coaching conversation using only questions. (60 min)
  • Module 2: Feedback That Lands The SBI framework (Situation, Behaviour, Impact) from the Center for Creative Leadership. Leave able to deliver specific, observable feedback that creates change instead of defensiveness. (60 min)
  • Module 3: Mentoring & Succession Thinking Three succession questions: Readiness, Talent and Humility. Leave able to identify a person you are developing toward a bigger role. (65 min)
  • Personal commitments and close (10 min)

Every private session is adjusted to your tools, your files and the outcomes you are trying to hit. The final agenda is confirmed with your facilitator before delivery.

Managers and leaders at any level who are responsible for growing someone else's capability.

  • Leaders who want a structured, repeatable approach to coaching conversations
  • Anyone who has given or received feedback that did not land
  • Organizations building a bench of future leaders, not just managing today's performance
  • Printed workbooks, workshop materials and personal commitment cards
  • Paired practice for every framework
  • One to two experienced facilitators
  • An optional extension module for senior leaders managing managers, on request
  • Live online — instructor-led, fully interactive, no travel
  • In-person — at your offices or a venue of your choice
  • Four hours including one break
  • Cohorts of 12 to 30 at round tables of four to six
  • In-person sessions need space for pairs to practise privately
